Photography is a powerful tool for storytelling, connection, and preservation. "Through Your Lens" is a space dedicated to showcasing the perspectives of our readers; photographers who see the world with depth, passion, and purpose. Each issue, we invite you to submit a collection of images and a brief write-up based on a specific theme. Our goal is to create a dialogue through photography, encouraging both personal reflection and broader conversations about the landscapes, environments, and stories that shape us. Selected submissions will be featured in an upcoming issue of Gathered Light Magazine.
Trees are more than landscape — they are architecture, community, memory, and medicine. They shape the air we breathe, the soil beneath our feet, and the ecosystems that give rise to entire worlds of sound, species, and stories.
Issue Five explores the lives of trees and forests through photography, science, history, and personal reflection. From ancient giants to the small stands outside our windows, we look at what it means to live with, learn from, and care for the beings that make life on land possible.
If you’d like to be featured, we welcome two paths of participation:
• Through Your Lens submissions
Submit 4–6 photographs of trees, forests, or forested landscapes, along with a brief written reflection (one to two paragraphs).
What drew you to photograph this place or these trees?
What do they reveal about time, resilience, relationship, or responsibility?
• Q&A features
If you feel your work would be better suited to a longer feature or interview, please email us first. We’re happy to discuss how your perspective might be included.
