Guided by editorial stewardship and reasoned discourse, we curate voices that expand conservation literacy while reducing misinformation and polarization.

Gathered Light is guided by editorial stewardship grounded in evidence, clarity, and relational responsibility.
We welcome emotionally resonant storytelling and lived experience, but we do not publish content that misrepresents scientific understanding or reinforces misinformation. When necessary, we work collaboratively with contributors to strengthen factual framing while preserving authentic voice.
Our goal is to hold emotion within truthful context while allowing multiple perspectives to coexist without distortion.
We believe clarity strengthens compassion, and rigor strengthens credibility.

Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Micheal MacEoghain is the Founder and Executive Director of Gathered Light Foundation and Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Gathered Light LLC, an independent conservation media and institutional development organization working at the intersection of environmental communication, publishing, documentary filmmaking, and public education.
His work explores how understanding becomes stewardship by strengthening the relationships between people, institutions, and the natural world.
Drawing upon more than four decades of experience spanning executive leadership, organizational operations, construction, publishing, journalism, photography, and wilderness exploration, Micheal develops communication frameworks that help people better understand the relationships connecting ecological systems, institutions, and human communities.
Rather than approaching conservation as a collection of isolated issues, his work emphasizes systems thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and human dignity. Through journalism, documentary storytelling, photography, publishing, and institutional framework development, he seeks to create accessible pathways for understanding complex environmental challenges without sacrificing scientific rigor or thoughtful dialogue.
Before founding Gathered Light, Micheal served in executive nonprofit leadership directing multi-site operations, facilities, organizational systems, and capital development for a large California nonprofit organization. He continues to lead MacEoghain Construction, providing strategic facilities leadership, capital project management, and executive advisory services.
Across every initiative, the goal remains the same: helping people better understand the relationships that sustain both human communities and the natural world.
